The Race
The race was originally started by Sir Chay Blyth as the Atlantic Ocean Race in 1996. In 2005, after the race event was bought out by Woodvale Events.

It's with deep regret that the Atlantic Race team must inform you that due to a lack of funds we will not be able to embark on the race this year. We are far from reaching our operational goal of $100,000. We are still highly motivated to complete this adventure and are presently looking at various options to do the crossing in the future.
We are hoping that either changing routes or the timing will reduce our operational costs significantly but the bottom line is we need to do many more successful fundraisers.
We thank you immensely for all the support you have given us to date. We hope that we will realize this dream not just for us but also for you, our supporters. As you are very much a part of the team and our journey.
